Holden Herefords
was one of the first members of the Montana Beef Performance Association
when it was organized in 1956 and were very active in it until it was
dissolved. We are also active participants in the TPR program of the
American Hereford Association. We are proud to be recognized as a Gold Breeder in their Whole Herd T.P.R. program.
These records have been very important
in selecting and maintaining the performance and quality of our cattle.
The entire cowherd has also been DNA tested for IE status and parentage verification.
The Holden Herefords registered cow herd is
Line One in breeding. The first Line One Hereford cattle were purchased over
fifty years ago. Today, we maintain a strict culling program for our
mother cows. We cull our breeding females based on performance, fertility, soundness and milk.
The Holden cattle are the product of many generations of selection for these
traits.
An embryo transfer program has been in place using best proven cows mated to select herd sires to produce superior seedstock bulls and replacement females. Ask us about embryos available for sale.
